Road Safety Team on the moveThe Cardiff Road Safety Team will soon be re-locating from its Briardene Road Safety Centre on North Road to a new headquarters at Maindy Stadium. The short distance move is likely to take place in June or July of this year and means that the team will be working closely with Dave Jackson's Maindy staff to offer the public of Cardiff a more comprehensive service, including a range of cyclist training opportunities. On the Road Safety Centre website, you can access a wide-range of useful information on all aspects of road safety education, training and publicity and the School Crossing Patrol Service.
In addition you can find details of local road safety services provided by the Road Safety Team. There is a host of information on this site for schools and children of all ages and abilities, e.g. Quizzes, competitions, Safer Routes to School project ideas and the Roadie Club.
The website also contains links to other road safety websites and there is a useful search facility.
A wide range of traffic education resources, which are linked to the national curriculum are available for loan to schools and educational establishments.

Motorised Exhibition Vehicle
The Road Safety Team is now operating a state-of-the-art 7.5 tonne motorised exhibition vehicle, which is the first of its type in Wales and possibly in the UK.
Pass Plus Cymru - Young Driver's Improvment Scheme
Cardiff Council’s Road Safety Team in conjunction with Road Safety Wales, MAC Driver Training and other local authorities across Wales are promoting the "Pass Plus Cymru", scheme until March 2010.
Mobile Phone Law
It is illegal to use a hand-held mobile phone when driving and the penalties are going up. From 27 February 2007 you will receive a £60 fine and three penalty points on your licence. Switch off before you drive off. Switch off before you drive off.
Green Cones Scheme
Indiscriminate and dangerous parking near schools is putting the lives of parents and children at risk, therefore a number of primary schools in Cardiff are now using special Green Cones in the carriageway to prevent motorists from parking on the yellow zig zag lines near the entrance.
Child car seat fitting service and safety checks

Seat belt/child restraint wearing requirements
Children under 3 years MUST use the child restraint appropriate for their weight in any vehicle (including vans and other goods vehicles)
