Welcome to Cardiff Council's Road Safety Unit's website, where you can access a wide-range of useful information on all aspects of road safety education, training and publicity.
In addition you can find details of local road safety services provided by Cardiff Council. There is a host of information on the site for schools and children of all ages and abilities, e.g. Quizzes, competitions, Safer Routes to School project ideas and the Roadie Club.
The website also contains links to other road safety websites and there is a useful search facility.

Child Cyclist Holiday Courses 2008
These courses are held at the Road Safety Centre in North Road during the school holidays.
New motorised exhibition vehicle
The Road Safety Unit has recently launched a new state-of-the-art 7.5 tonne motorised exhibition vehicle, which is the first of its type in Wales and possibly in the UK.
Pass Plus Cymru - Young Driver's Improvment Scheme
Cardiff Council’s Road Safety Unit in conjunction with Road Safety Wales, MAC Driver Training and other local authorities across Wales are again promoting this project called "Pass Plus Cymru", up to March 2009.
New Mobile Phone Law
It is illegal to use a hand-held mobile phone when driving and the penalties are going up. From 27 February 2007 you will receive a £60 fine and three penalty points on your licence. Switch off before you drive off.
Green Cones Scheme
Indiscriminate and dangerous parking near schools is putting the lives of parents and children at risk, therefore a number of primary schools in Cardiff are now using special Green Cones in the carriageway to prevent motorists from parking on the yellow zig zag lines near the entrance.
Child car seat fitting service and safety checks
Staff at the Road Safety Centre can carryout safety checks and provide advice on the correct fitting of child car seats and restraints. If you would like further details, please contact us on Cardiff (029) 20619907.
Seat belt/child restraint wearing requirements from 18 September 2006
Children under 3 years MUST use the child restraint appropriate for their weight in any vehicle (including vans and other goods vehicles)
