As part of its commitment to reducing the number of children injured in cars, the Road Safety Centre is operating a FREE baby seat loan scheme. The seat is also available for purchase at £20.
First Ride – Safe Ride
The seat can be borrowed for a period of up to two weeks and is ideal for a baby’s first ride home from hospital in a car or taxi. The seat is lightweight, rearward facing and offers maximum protection, is suitable for most infants 0–9 months 9Kg (20lbs) and conforms to the necessary BSI standard.
Experts are warning of the dangers of using second-hand car seats and are advising parents not to purchase seats from anywhere other than reputable retailers unless they are certain the seat has not been damaged in an accident, and are provided with the original instruction booklet and all other components.
It is estimated that around one in ten second-hand car seats currently in use could be dangerous because they have already been involved in an accident.
