Record - Breaking Walking Bus event 2008

Record Breaking Walking Bus 2008Since 2004 a number of schools in Cardiff have participated in the Record - Breaking Walking Bus event, which this year took place on 11th June at 10am.

The main aim of this event is to encourage schools to promote the importance of road safety, highlights to drivers the need to drive slowly near schools, encourage more walking to school and promote the setting up of volunteer led Walking Buses.

Record Breaking Walking Bus1In 2007, more than 80,000 children in the UK took part in the Record Breaking Walking Bus in an attempt to break the World Record! In 2008 hundreds of schools at exactly the same are trying to break this record by being among 200,000 children who walk a safe distance of at least 500 metres at 10AM on Wednesday 11 June 2008 in a crocodile of twos (holding hands), with enough adults accompanying them. Every child who takes part will receive a sticker and a certificate from Brake, the National Road Safety Charity.
